The author of the channel compared the Xeon E5-2666 V3 processor (with the Machinist X99-G7 motherboard) with the Xeon E5-2640 V3 in modern games. In the end, the performance values turned out to be similar for both assembly options. Game projects tested during the review included Far Cry New Dawn, Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Immortals Fenyx Rising, F1 2021, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Games were launched on the Windows 10 Pro operating system.
V Far Cry New Dawn in terms of the average number of frames, the E5-2666 V3 had an advantage: 80 fps versus 76 fps for the E5-2640 V3. In rare events, the values for these configurations were 58 fps and 55 fps, respectively.
V Far Cry 6 the difference between processors is also negligible. 80 fps on average is observed for E5-2666 V3 and 79 fps for E5-2640 V3. In rare events, the number of frames is 36 fps and 35 fps, respectively.
V Assassin’s Creed Odyssey again, the gap between the values in rare events is 1 fps: 21 fps for E5-2640 V3 and 22 fps for E5-2666 V3. In terms of average FPS, the results are as follows: 57 fps versus 61 fps with a predominance of E5-2666 V3.
More than 100 fps can be obtained in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla… The E5-2640 V3 has an average performance of 121 fps, while the E5-2666 V3 has 127 fps. In rare events, the values are 74 fps and 80 fps, respectively.
V Watch Dogs Legion the gap between the processors is getting wider. It is 9 fps: the average FPS of the E5-2666 V3 is 94 fps, and the E5-2640 V3 is 85 fps. At the same time, in rare events, the performance is equal to 68 fps and 61 fps, respectively.
