The stress of instant ticket booking on IRCTC might soon be over if a simple technical suggestion is implemented properly. Millions of passengers are now hoping for a better system that combines smart thinking and technology.
Booking instant tickets on trains is like a battlefield for travelers. Every day at 10 AM sharp, millions rush to IRCTC’s website and app. But what happens? The website freezes, and within 60 seconds, tickets move to the waiting list.
However, relief from this problem might be near. Dr. A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare, has shared a smart method to make instant ticket booking easier. According to him, this idea could eliminate the issue of the IRCTC site freezing.
What Did Velumani Say?
Dr. Velumani posted on social media that instant ticket booking on IRCTC has become a joke. Before 10 AM, seats show as available on the website, but at exactly 10 AM, the site freezes. By 10:03 AM, all tickets are booked, and at 10:04 AM, the site returns to normal. This daily scene is like a repeated film.
According to a report by LocalCircles, over 55,000 passengers from 396 districts shared their experiences. 73% said their tickets went to the waiting list within 1 minute. 30% said they now rely on travel agents. Only 29% said they occasionally manage to get instant tickets throughout the year.
What’s the Solution?
Dr. Velumani suggests that just like his company managed website traffic by allowing gradual entry, IRCTC should adopt a similar approach.
He recommends splitting instant ticket booking from 6 AM to 8 PM into hourly slots, with bookings open for specific trains each hour. This would reduce heavy server load and prevent website crashes.
As a result, users can book tickets without stress, the website won’t freeze, and most importantly — travelers will get a fair chance to book tickets.
