Instagram fined 32 billion, accused of tampering with children’s personal data

Instagram But Ireland’s data privacy regulator has fined the social networking platform 32.7 billion rupees (405 million euros) after it was found to have breached the protection of children’s data. In fact, Instagram has been found guilty of violating the rules of the European Union Data Policy related to the personal data of teenagers, after which it was fined heavily.

Ireland’s Data Protection Commission said in an email on Monday that it had made a final decision last week to fine the company $402 million.

After the fine was imposed, Instagram’s parent company Meta has said that it fully cooperated during the full investigation of the matter. However, Meta has said that it disagrees with the hefty fine and will appeal against it.

An Irish watchdog investigation found that Instagram publicly leaked personal data of 13 to 17-year-olds, including their phone numbers and email addresses. Please note that the minimum age for Instagram users is 13 years.
