Google Chrome OS

According to the 9to5Google portal, citing the Chromium Gerrit web service, Google already has a roadmap for branded OS updates with a list of portable PCs that will receive native support for the Steam client. The list includes the following devices:

  • Acer Chromebook 514 (codename Volta)
  • Acer Chromebook 515 (Volet)
  • Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (Voxel)
  • ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 (Delbin)
  • Chromebook HP Pro C640 G2 (Elemi)
  • Unknown Lenovo model codenamed Lindar

According to the source, the list of minimum system requirements for installing Steam on a Chromebook includes an 11th generation Core i5 processor and at least 7 GB of RAM. In addition, it became known that NVIDIA is also participating in the project, which is considering the possibility of using an eGPU for portable PCs on Chrome OS. The exact date of the announcement of the Steam client for the Google operating system is still unknown.
