Insider: new GeForce will need a 1500 W power supply

New details about the expected characteristics of future NVIDIA products have appeared on the network. Insider Greymon55 has revealed the required PSU power for the RTX 40 series flagship – and if this figure turns out to be correct, users will have to incur additional costs for upgrading their computer.

According to the source, the power consumption of the new NVIDIA 40-series flagships based on the AD102 graphics processor can reach 850 watts. To build a PC based on such a video card, according to an insider, you will need a power supply with a capacity of about 1500 W, taking into account the appetites of other components. At the same time, it is expected that the performance of the novelty will be 2-2.5 times higher than that of the current top-end graphics card of the GeForce RTX family.

Similar information was also published by an insider under the nickname kopite7kimi. Earlier reports of network informants have already noted that the power consumption of the RTX 4080, RTX 4080 Ti and RTX 4090 models will be 450, 600 and 800 watts, respectively. It is possible that the figure of 850 W refers to the top-end RTX 4090 Ti. It should be noted that these data do not yet have real confirmation.

The announcement of a new series of NVIDIA graphics cards based on the Lovelace architecture is expected in September this year. According to rumors, the increase in computing power of new products compared to the previous generation will be more significant than that of the AMD Radeon 7000 line. The exact date of the presentation and the price of unannounced hardware are still unknown.
