The piggy bank of rumors about Apple’s plans to release an iPhone without holes in the screen has been replenished with a new insider report. This time, the forecast of network sources is not so optimistic – they say that the company has temporarily “frozen” plans to release a smartphone with a sub-screen selfie module.
Apple has been developing the technology for placing the camera under the display for several years. However, according to industry whistleblowers, in January 2022, the company’s management decided to focus on further optimization of the Face ID facial recognition scanner. It is reported that the team previously involved in the Touch ID fingerprint sensor was transferred to the same division.
Earlier, Apple expanded the capabilities of Face ID, introducing the function of user authentication by face even when wearing a protective mask. Insiders claim that at the current stage, the branded under-screen front camera does not meet the high standards of the company. Thus, you should not expect it as part of the iPhone 14 – the first gadget of the brand with such a solution will appear on the market no earlier than 2023.
