The new variant of Corona has created a ruckus in China. Meanwhile, Indian scientists have achieved a great success. He has developed a new air filter. This air filter can kill the germs present in the air. Scientists have developed an air filtration technique that can ‘self-clean’ germs from the system by using compounds found in green tea. The biggest feature of this air filter is that it can deactivate the delta variant SARS-CoV-2 (delta variant) of SARS Cove-2 with 99.24 percent efficiency.
The air filter has been prepared by a study team led by Suryasarathi Bose and Kaushik Chatterjee at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. The air filters the scientists developed use compounds such as polyphenols and polycationic polymers found in green tea. These air filters can break down germs and deactivate them. Science and Engineering Research Board also supported in developing the air filter. Scientists have applied to patent this discovery.
This is the drawback of existing air filters
Shared by Press Information Bureau Information It has been told that due to the continuous use of the air filters that are being used at present, germs make them a breeding ground. The increase in the number of germs clogs the holes of the existing air filters and reduces the life of the filters. This increases the chances of people using air filters getting infected.
The air filter developed by the scientists has also been tested in the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories-NABL accredited laboratory. It is an antimicrobial filter. It is claimed that it will not only save people from air pollution, but can also help in reducing the spread of corona virus. The new filter can be used in air conditioners, central ducts and air purifiers.
Air pollution is increasing across the country. The situation is worse in the cities of North India. New air filters can prove to be more effective for people, although there is no information about when their production will start in the industry.
