Indian Railways Status: A new railway line is being laid from Indian Railways to connect one state to another state’s important tourist and pilgrimage sites. The Ministry of Railways has approved the construction of Taranga Hill-Ambaji-Abu Road New Rail Line connecting the special pilgrimage places of Gujarat and Rajasthan. The total estimated cost of 116.65 km rail line construction will be Rs 2798.16 crore, which has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A target has been set to complete this rail project by 2026-27.
Ambaji is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths
The famous pilgrimage site of the country is Ambaji Shaktipeeth. It is included in one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in India. This project gives direct employment opportunities for about 40 lakh man days during construction. This project will play a vital role in enhancing connectivity, which will lead to overall socio-economic development. Every year lakhs of devotees from different regions of Gujarat and the country come to visit Ambaji religious place. With the construction of Tarangahil-Ambaji-Abu Road new line, lakhs of pilgrims coming here will be able to travel easily.
Ajitnath Jain will join the temple network
This railway line will establish connectivity with other broad gauge networks of the country for the devotees coming to visit the Ajitnath Jain Temple (one of the 24 holy Jain Tirthankaras) located in Tarangahil. This rail line will facilitate faster movement of agricultural and local produce and provide better mobility of the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan with other parts of the country. The project will also provide an alternate route for the existing Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line. The proposed new rail line will pass through Sirohi district of Rajasthan and Sabarkantha, Banaskantha and Mahesana districts of Gujarat.
Industries will be made in this area
With the construction of new railway line, industries will develop in this area and there will be overall socio-economic development of the area. The estimated cost of Tarangahil-Ambaji-Abu Road new rail line (116.65 KM) is Rs.2798.16 crore. A total of 15 stations are proposed on this railway line, in which there are 8 crossings and 7 halt stations. It will have 11 tunnels, 54 major bridges, 151 minor bridges, 8 road over bridges, 54 road under bridges/bridges of limited height.
