In terms of technology, India is not behind in competing with the big countries of the world. If we talk about 5G, then India is expanding 5G faster than countries like America and Europe. Yes, now India is planning to bring not only 5G but also 6G. The Prime Minister of the country Narendra Modi attended a program on March 23, 2023 at Vigyan Bhawan. Here, Modi inaugurated the new International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Area Office and Innovation Center in India. During this program, the Prime Minister spoke about the India 6G vision document and launched the 6G R&D test bed. According to the statement issued by the PMO, the PM addressed the gathering along with launching the Call Before You Dig app. Let us tell you that ITU is the specialized agency of information and communication technology of the United Nations. Its headquarters is in Geneva. The agency, with a network of field offices, regional offices and area offices, had partnered with ITU in March 2022 to start area offices in India.
The India 6G vision document has been prepared by the Technology Innovation Group for 6G (TIG-6G). It was launched in November 2021 for a roadmap for 6G in the country in collaboration with members of various ministries/departments, research and development institutes and many other institutions. The India 6G vision document and 6G test band will accelerate the expansion of new innovation and technology in the country.
However, it may take several years for 6G to be commercially launched. It is being speculated that 6G may start in India around 2028 or 2029. Right now work is going on in many places around the world regarding 5G, so India has started its 5G service at the end of 2022. Telecom companies are confirming that the 5G rollout in India will be unique. Airtel And both Jio is providing unlimited 5G to its customers. Telecom companies are planning to launch 5G across the country by next year.
