The Nokia Annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) Report 2022 has revealed that India has become one of the largest data-using countries in the world with a year-on-year growth rate of 53 per cent over the past five years. The increasing number of data users and consumption per user are helping this country to move forward towards realizing the vision of Digital India.

Data traffic grew by 31 percent in the year 2021 with the average mobile data consumption reaching 17GB per month per user. India’s growing 4G network will handle almost all mobile broadband traffic in 2021. The report further reveals that over 40 million subscribers were added or upgraded to 4G services in the year 2021. This number will further increase as digitization continues. The traffic in the metros increased significantly as compared to the previous years.
