Scientists from the North Caucasus Federal University have created a device with a digital image processing speed exceeding all known analogues. The filtering speed of visual information by the device is 1.3-6.9 times.
As Pavel Lyakhov, head of the Department of Mathematical Modeling of NCFU, noted, the main computational load in the filtration of visual media falls on the repeated repetition of the multiplication operation. Fewer repetitions are required to speed up the visual filter.
Specialists from NCFU were the first to mathematically describe the algorithms for optimized filtration, on the basis of which they developed an innovative device.
“The new filter architecture makes it possible to increase the signal processing speed by 1.33-6.9 times, and the performance by 1.31-4.12 times, depending on which architecture is being compared with and the specified technical parameters. The new device is advisable to use where, first of all, the speed of data processing is important – in systems operating in real time, ”the source said.
