In Russia, they create a payment “Tourist Card” for foreigners based on the “Mir” system

The Ministry of Economic Development is implementing a project, during which a “Tourist Card” will be created for foreign travelers based on the Mir payment system.

The development of the Tourist Card project based on the Mir payment system for foreign tourists was discussed at a meeting with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. Based on its results, the Ministry of Economic Development was appointed the agency responsible for interdepartmental coordination and sectoral scaling of the Tourist Map project. The Ministry of Digital Finance, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service, Rosfinmonitoring, the Bank of Russia and other organizations were also instructed to take part in the development of the project.

The Central Bank takes an active part in the creation of this project. Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov will talk about it in more detail before December 26.

Earlier, tour operators said that there were significantly fewer tourists in Russia due to the departure of foreign payment systems Visa and MasterCard. Few people want to take cash with them, risking their own safety.
