In Russia, invented coatings for cooling missiles and aircraft at 1500 ° C



Scientists from the Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev, they invented a plasma coating to protect rocket and aircraft engines from extremely high operating temperatures – about 1500 degrees Celsius and above.

The development is designed to protect from burnout and destruction of parts of the hot path, internal surfaces of combustion chambers and nozzles, turbine blades and other elements of engines and power plants. This will increase the wear resistance of parts by 2-3 times, reducing the need for repair and replacement of expensive components.

The coating will be applied using a plasma to which a refractory material, such as powdered zirconium oxide, has been added. The coating will be tested for two years, according to the results of the tests, prototypes will be made.
