In August, these 10 car companies showed flair, Maruti on top, tough competition between Tata and Hyundai

Maruti Suzuki has sold 1,34,166 units of passenger vehicles in August 2022, compared to 1,03,187 units in the same month last year. The company has registered a market share of 40.87 percent with year-on-year sales growth of 30.02 percent.

Hyundai has secured the second position in the list of top 10 car companies in August 2022. The gap between Hyundai and Tata is narrowing. The company sold 49,510 units of vehicles in August 2022 as compared to 46,866 units sold in the same month last year. Hyundai’s sales have registered a year-on-year growth of 5.4%. Presently the company has a market share of 15.08 per cent.

Tata Motors has registered an impressive growth in sales for August 2022. The company registered sales of 47,166 units last month, a massive sales growth of 68.34 per cent, as compared to 28,018 units in August 2021. With this, the market share of Tata Motors has gone up to 14.37 percent.

Mahindra and Kia India are at the fourth and fifth positions with market share of 9.09% and 6.80% respectively. Mahindra sold 29,852 vehicles in August, compared to 15,973 units sold in the same month last year. The company registered a massive sales growth of 86.89 per cent on a year-on-year basis.

On the other hand, Kia sold 22,322 units of vehicles last month as compared to 16,750 units in August 2021. With this the company registered a growth of 33.27% in annual sales.

Toyota ranks sixth with sales of 14,959 units in August 2022, compared to 12,772 units sold in the same month last year. Toyota has a market share of 4.56 per cent. Honda stood at the seventh position with sales of 7,769 units in August 2022. The company registered negative sales growth of 30.49 per cent as compared to 11,177 units sold in the same month last year.

Renault too registered sales of 7,012 units last month as against 11,177 units sold in the same month last year. Renault finished eighth with a drop of more than 27% in sales. Skoda Auto stood at the ninth position with sales of 4,222 vehicles in August 2022. The company registered a growth of 10.26 per cent last month. Finally, MG Motor managed to make it to the tenth position with 3,823 units sold in August. However, sales of MG Motors have registered a decline of 11.40%.
