Pakistan Imran Khan: Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been arrested again. This time Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have been arrested by NAB in a new case of Toshakhana corruption. Imran Khan and his wife were acquitted by the court in the Iddat case today i.e. on 13 July 2024.
Now arrest has been made in this case
The re-arrest of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has been done in Adiala Jail under the leadership of NAB officer Mohsin Haroon. In the second investigation of Toshakhana, Imran Khan has been accused of illegally possessing and selling expensive watches, jewellery and other gifts.
According to Pakistani media reports, Bushra Bibi has been arrested for allegedly not cooperating with the authorities. In May this year, a new case of misuse of Toshakhana was reported against Imran Khan and his wife.
Earlier on January 31, 2024, the court convicted Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana corruption case and sentenced both of them to 14 years in jail. After this, on April 1, 2024, the Islamabad High Court suspended the sentence of both.
The couple was acquitted in the Iddat case
An Islamabad court had acquitted former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat Nikah case and ordered their release. The additional session judge had overturned the trial court’s decision. In this case, the PTI founder and his wife were sentenced to seven years in jail and a fine of Rs 5 lakh each. This week, a court had cancelled their bail on charges of inciting riots by supporters in May 2023.
