Hyundai Motor India has released the sales figures in February 2022. According to the data released by the company, Hyundai Motor has sold 44,050 units of cars in February 2022, while last year the company sold 51,600 units of vehicles in the month of February itself.
This year the company’s sales have registered a decline of 14.63 percent. On the other hand, in terms of month-on-month sales, in January 2022, Hyundai Motor India sold a total of 44,022 units of cars domestically. There has been an increase of 0.06 percent in the sales of February 2022 as compared to January 2022.
Apart from this, talking about the exports of Hyundai Motor India, the company has exported a total of 9,109 units last month, while in February 2021, the company sent a total of 10,200 units of cars from Indian shores to foreign markets. There has been an overall decline of 10.70 per cent in exports this year.
Talking about both domestic and export sales of Hyundai Motor India, in February 2022, the company has sold a total of 53,159 units of vehicles, while in the month of February last year, the company sold a total of 61,800 units of vehicles. This year the company’s total sales have declined by 13.98 percent.
Hyundai Motor India has been at the top of the export table for a long time, but the competition is tough on this front too. Maruti Suzuki India exported 24 thousand units last month, which is much more than Hyundai Motor India.
Where domestic car production is concerned, chip shortages remain a bit troubling, so manufacturers are leaving no stone unturned to focus on sales opportunities in overseas markets. This remains a viable plan, given that no manufacturer would want to reduce manufacturing capacity.
It is still possible to sell cars in other markets where similar parts are in short supply, not needed. While Hyundai’s apparent lead as the second largest automaker in the country remains largely unchanged, the recent change in focus by MSIL means that its status as a leader in exports is now disputed.
While the year-over-year sales decline was in the double digits, the month-on-month sales gap was modest. Sales of 44,022 units were the same in January 2022. The sales story in the current months, depending on the manufacturer, has been mixed. Hyundai has aligned its position in India in recent years to compete strongly in the UV segment.
This means that the company is heavily dependent on Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Venue to increase sales numbers. Buyers can expect a facelift for both the cars sometime in 2022, depending on the chip shortage situation.
