Hyundai and Kia have gathered in space, and this is not a figurative expression. The auto giants have announced that they will be collaborating with various research institutes to build a lunar rover.
Hyundai and Kia plan to start working with six external partners to develop the lunar rover as early as August. The companies have already established an internal advisory body that will define the concept of the project.
Those six external partners are Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), Korea Astronomy and Space Research Institute (KASI), Korea Institute of Automotive Technology (KATECH), Korea Civil Engineering Institute (KICT ) and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). Some sources also talk about working with NASA, but this seems to be a mistake.
