Hybrids and conventional ICE cars catch fire many times more often than electric cars: unexpected statistics from the USA

As electric vehicles rise in popularity, some are raising concerns about their safety amid news that some new-energy vehicles are self-igniting.

However, Auto Insurance EZ recently analyzed data from the US Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the National Transportation Commission, and the official vehicle recall website and found that hybrids have the highest relative fire rate, followed by internal combustion engine (ICE)-only vehicles, and then there are electric cars.

In the United States, on average per 100,000 vehicles sold, hybrid models are reported to be “leading” in fire rate with 3,474 units, followed by combustion-only vehicles (1,529 vehicles), and electric vehicles very far in third place. with a total of 25 cars.
