Mahindra Thar On Discount: The Thar SUV of Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra is one of the best-selling models for the company. But in the month of April, the company is offering huge discounts on this car. Customers can avail a cash discount of up to Rs. 40,000 on the purchase of petrol and diesel variants of the Thar 4X4. This SUV is available in two trims namely AX (O) and LX.

It gets three powertrain options, including a 1.5L diesel engine with 6-speed manual and RWD with rear wheel drive, manual and automatic transmission, a 2.2L diesel engine with 4WH system and manual/automatic transmission and A 2.0L petrol engine is available with rear wheel drive system.
Its 1.5L diesel and 2.2L diesel engines generate outputs of 300Nm/ 118bhp and 300Nm/ 130bhp respectively. While the petrol engine generates an output of 300Nm/ 152bhp. The Thar 4X4 gets an Electronic Brake Locking Differential, which gives the vehicle firm grip even on roads with low traction.
New variant will come soon
According to media reports, the company is soon going to bring a new entry-level 4X4 variant of this car, which will be placed below the AX (O) trim. It can get 2.0L petrol or 2.2L diesel engine. However, it will miss out on some features as compared to the AX (O) trim.
5 Door Mahindra Thar
Mahindra is also testing its 5-door Thar, which can be launched in 2023 or early 2024. This car will come with a 300 mm longer wheelbase than the current Thar. The body panels will be new and it will get better controls. It will get to see more cabin space. Also, it can get updated infotainment system, sunglass holder and front center armrest.
Will compete with Maruti Suzuki Jimny
The 5-door Thar will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5 Door, which the company is going to launch next month.
