Huawei: current telecommunications infrastructure is not suitable for the metaverse

The representative of the Chinese telecommunications giant, Huawei, believes that the existing telecommunications infrastructure is not enough to meet the needs of the metaverses.
According to the company’s experts, 5G and 6G are much better suited for the tasks of virtual worlds. This was stated by the chief specialist of Huawei in consulting in the field of business and strategy Abhinav Purohit (Abhinav Purohit).

“The Metaverse is primarily a collective virtual space that brings together people from different parts of the planet in one place, allowing everyone to get the same experience. It organically mixes virtual content with the physical world, ”said the specialist.

He also added that the notion of an open metaverse is closely tied to the Web3 movement, as the embedded economy will be powered by “digital currencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs)”.
To realize such a vision, download speeds, streaming quality, mobile devices, and Metaverse hardware, among other things, are likely to require rapid improvements to keep the virtual realm running smoothly, he said.
Changes in network optimization and communications standards will also be needed to reduce latency between devices and different mobile networks. The situation will be greatly improved by the widespread introduction of 5G, Purohit believes, but ultimately innovation is needed in several areas at once.
