How to keep your laptop from overheating – 5 life hacks

Laptop owners are often faced with the fact that the device gets very hot. We are figuring out how to save a laptop from overheating and keep it working.

In recent years, laptops have become more compact, and their key parts like the processor , motherboard or hard drive have not only decreased in size, but are also located closer to each other. They all generate heat, and the close proximity causes the device to get hotter. Of course, there are fans in the laptop, but they do not always cope with  cooling the device. Below are a few ways to prevent your laptop from overheating.

  1. Do not place the gadget on a soft surface – sofa, pillow, blanket. Soft material may block the ventilation holes and interfere with the cooling of the device. Instead, use a table or stand, by the way, the latter often have fans built in for additional cooling.
  2. For the same reason, try to lift the laptop a little while you work: just place a small object or even a pencil under it. This will allow air to pass underneath and minimize overheating.
  3. If you are using a laptop for resource-intensive tasks, then take breaks. If during the day you do not use your laptop all the time, but from time to time, then put it into sleep mode. This will save energy and reduce the heat generated by the device.
  4. Clean fan from dust by a small electric vacuum cleaner gadgets or blow with compressed air.
  5. Special coasters and cooling mats can help. And if the laptop case is metal, then for quick cooling, you can remove heat from it by placing a metal object under it.

If self-cooling does not help and the laptop is still very hot, you can contact the service for a professional cleaning of the laptop and replace the thermal paste.
