How To Get Around US Sanctions: TD Tech Confirms Its New Phones Are Inspired by Huawei

Not long ago, TD Tech unexpectedly launched a 5G mobile phone powered by the JD platform. These phones, called N8 Pro, turned out to be a copy of Huawei Nova 8 Pro, which does not have 5G support.

The smartphone turned out to be very popular, because it was equipped with a Kirin 985 single-chip system, the characteristics completely repeated the Huawei Nova 8 Pro, and also supported 5G networks. A few days after the release, the smartphone was withdrawn from sale, and now there is a comment from the manufacturer.

The Chinese media contacted TD Tech, which literally confirmed the following: “This brand of mobile phones belongs to TD Tech, but the components are indeed purchased from Huawei.”

Regarding the rapid disappearance from the JD store’s inventory, TD Tech staff said the N8 Pro is primarily aimed at corporate users at this stage. Regular users will be able to purchase smartphones from the JD store at the end of the year. In addition, it is reported that TD Tech has prepared another smartphone, which will be a copy of Huawei Mate 40 based on Kirin 9000E with 5G support.

Yesterday there was information that Huawei Technologies plans to develop new models for other companies with access to those components that the Chinese giant cannot acquire due to the sanctions. The partners are the Chinese companies PTAC and TD Tech.
