WhatsApp is a very popular app in India. A large number of smartphone users install WhatsApp on their devices. WhatsApp offers voice and video calling, multimedia messaging and online payments.
The Government of India had deployed its Digilocker project some time back. Whose name is MyGov Main Stage, through which DigiLocker has been made available. DigiLocker service and the documents involved are available to the users through WhatsApp.
Speaking about the project, Abhishek Singh, CEO, MyGov, said that simply put, MyGov provides a service that uses WhatsApp chatbots. Users can use Digilocker to retrieve important official documents from the automatic chatbot. WhatsApp chatbot makes its service easy for the government and on the other hand, users can access their documents anywhere, without visiting any government office.
How to download documents from Digilocker via WhatsApp?
It is important to note that the DigiLocker chatbot on WhatsApp is an automatic process. Hence, users have to fill all the details carefully to get their documents from Digilocker.
Users will also need a DigiLocker account. This facility is available on MyGov website. Aadhar card details, mobile number, email id and date of birth are required to create an account. Also, it is recommended to use the same mobile number everywhere. After completion of all the process you will get an OTP.
After creating an account, users will have to upload their documents to the DigiLocker database. Presently, you can keep all these documents on the Digilocker WhatsApp chatbot.

To use Digilocker on WhatsApp, first save the number to +91 9013151515, which is the official number of Digilocker WhatsApp chatbot. To activate and get certified, send Hello,Hi or Digilocker. From the given options, choose Digilocker Services.
Users will have to submit the DigiLocker account description, after that the users will have to provide the Aadhaar card number. The chatbot will then try to authenticate these details through an OTP (One Time Password). After that fill the OTP and click on submit. Once authenticated, the chatbot will list all the documents associated with the DigiLocker account.
