How much less Russians began to use Instagram after blocking and Facebook

Research company Mediascope has calculated the daily audience of social networks in Russia from February 24 to March 15. It became clear how many people left Instagram and Facebook after the lockdown.

Mediascope researchers took into account the number of Russians who visited a particular social network for at least a minute during the day.

After blocking Facebook, the audience of the social network has decreased. On February 24, it exceeded 9.6 million people over 12 years old, but already on March 5 it amounted to 9 million, and on March 10-15 – 5.5-6.9 million people.

As for Instagram, on March 14, the first day of blocking, there was a peak in traffic over the past three weeks. Then almost 40.9 million Russians entered the application or the site. The next day, the number of Instagram users was already down by more than 16%, to 34.2 million.

It is noted that while this is primary data. The audience may continue to fall.
