The joint commission of Russia and Kazakhstan summed up the results of negotiations on the fate of the Baiterek spacecraft at the Baikonur cosmodrome. Representatives of the two countries, including Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Yuri Borisov, were satisfied with the results of the negotiations.
Russia and Kazakhstan have finally decided on the list of measures and the timeframe for the implementation of “Beiterek”. During the negotiations, they agreed to create social facilities and service infrastructure for the city of Baikonur. In addition, the commission was concerned with the development of the environmental safety of the new site. Decisions on withdrawal from lease, write-off, as well as utilization of unused objects of the Baiterek complex were not ignored either.
On the agenda items, the experts found mutually acceptable solutions, which is reflected in the minutes of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission
