How COVID-19 chewing gum helps fight infection

Chewing gum, scientists say, is a 2-gram tablet. This tablet contains a powder of plant origin, and the salad was taken as the basis.

Why salad? It contains certain structures – proteins ACE2 (ACE2 – in English), to which the coronavirus particle is able to “catch”. So the researchers decided to somehow trick the virus: SARS-Cov-2 will “cling” to the ACE2 proteins and not get what is needed.

The effectiveness of the new drug has already been tested on infected hamster cells and on saliva samples from people with covid. It turned out that the number of SARS-Cov-2 is reduced after using the drug by 95 percent.
