According to surgeon and professor at the University of Sunderland, Karan Rangarjan, having a beard is associated with a reduced risk of cancer. It works like this: Facial hair reduces UV exposure by about 30% compared to clean-shaven faces.
At the same time, the specialist nevertheless clarified that it is not worth giving up sunscreen because of this.
Rangarjan also said that a beard can provide soft skin for men. This effect of facial hair is associated with a “barrier effect” created by it, which prevents a person from constantly touching the skin of the face.
