Honduras has launched its own Bitcoin Valley crypto hub in the tourist city of Santa Lucia.
Already, 60 different cafes and shops have begun to accept bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies for payment. To implement the project, the Blockchain Honduras organization, the Coincaex cryptocurrency exchange from Guatemala, the Technological University of Honduras and the municipality of Santa Lucia worked.
“The Santa Lucia community will learn how to work with cryptocurrencies, manage digital assets and use them for various businesses. This will make the region attractive for cryptotourism”, ? says Ruben Carbajal Velazquez, professor at the Goduras University of Technology.
Retailers in Santa Lucia will be able to instantly convert bitcoins into local currency and receive it in their account, local authorities promise. This will reduce the risks of cryptocurrency volatility.
At the same time, on the other side of the globe, Hong Kong University announced the construction of a MetaHKUST campus in the metaverse.
Trial classes for the new learning model will begin on September 1. The initiative is aimed at organizing joint education of students from different cities in a single virtual space. This is reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) website.
To create a unified virtual environment, the university is equipping its Guangzhou and Hong Kong campuses with sensors, cameras and visualization tools to create virtual twins of offline campuses. Once the ecosystem is established, both institutions will be able to create content in the form of avatars, NFTs, or virtual art objects.
