Honda’s EM1 electric scooter introduced, will get a range of 40 km in full charge

Honda has introduced an electric scooter named Honda EM1 e at EICMA 2022.

Please note that ‘EM’ here stands for Electric Moped. It is a moped but no pedal is available in it.

Not much information has been revealed about it yet, but it is being told that hub motor will be available in it. It is designed for a small town and is a low-speed scooter with a top speed of 50 km/h.

Equipped with Honda’s Mobile Power Pack (MPP) swappable battery technology, this e-scooter will get a range of 40 km. Yes, the range is not much, but with the help of swappable battery network, its range can be increased.

While the company hasn’t released any details about the engine, the image shows that the Honda EM1E uses a hub-mounted motor. It gets a 10-inch rear wheel. The electric scooter gets a large luggage rack at the rear, 12-inch front wheel, front disc brake and telescopic front fork. The lighting is all-LED and the instrument console is a normal LCD unit.

Its charging time is the same as refueling a petrol scooter. The design of the EM1e is similar to that of the Honda U-GO e-scooter. The base also seems to have been taken from the Yu-Go. It will first be introduced in Europe. Will start in another continent sometime after July 2023.

The big question is, will Honda launch this e-moped scooter in India? Well, it is quite unlikely and instead, Honda will bring a different product for the Indian and select South East Asian markets. In fact, this is the same as the Benly e electric scooter Honda is testing in India.

The Japanese bike maker plans to introduce more than 10 electric two-wheelers globally by 2025.
