Honda will launch 10 new electric scooters in India, this will be the first model

Honda is preparing to introduce 10 new electric scooters in the Indian market. The electric version of Honda Activa can be launched as the first electric scooter.

Nowadays people are giving preference to electric two-wheelers to avoid the cost of petrol. In these, the trend of electric scooters has increased rapidly. There are many companies in India that sell electric two-wheelers. However, Honda has not yet opened its cards in this segment. Now Japanese company too electric two-wheeler Ready to take entry in the segment. By 2031, the company is planning to introduce 10 new electric two-wheelers in India. Different types of models will be included in these.

Various powertrains, body types and speed categories will be seen in the models to be launched by Honda. The company has been planning for the last few years to enter the electric two-wheeler segment. According to media reports, the upcoming models will include fixed and swappable battery options.

Activa electric version

Two of Honda’s upcoming electric two-wheelers are named projects – K4BA and GJNA. Work is going on on both these projects. One of these models is expected to get a swappable battery option. At the same time, the second model can be the electric version of Activa. This means that the Activa Electric could be Honda’s first scooter in India.

Production of 50 lakh units

The company can start unveiling the new electric two-wheeler from next year. Whereas, the remaining models can be introduced from 2026-27. Honda plans to manufacture 1 to 1.5 lakh units of both the models in the first year. However, the company can take the production of electric scooters up to 50 lakh units in the 2024 financial year.

Support for swappable battery

Honda has set up a base of Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt Ltd (HEID) in Bengaluru. From here the swappable battery will get support in the upcoming electric scooter. Currently, the swappable system is being offered to the three-wheeler industry. Electric auto rickshaws are being supported by the swapping service set up by Honda. HEID has started with 70 swapping stations in Bengaluru.
