Hero Electric will set up second factory in Ludhiana, state-of-the-art electric vehicles will be produced

Hero says that battery design and development work will also be done in this new plant. A new center for research and development on electric vehicles will be opened in this plant, along with state-of-the-art vehicles that will be powered by the Internet. Apart from this, the company will also recruit employees from this plant and will also provide training to them.

Growing demand for electric vehicles

The demand for Hero Electric vehicles has grown steadily over the years. Due to this the company is expanding its production capacity as well as opening new dealerships. The company has recently opened new showrooms in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala. Hero Electric’s production has also been affected due to the ongoing semiconductor shortage. Due to semiconductor shortage, the company did not dispatch a single scooter in April.

Hero says that the company is aggressively working to increase its production capacity. Along with laying the foundation stone of the new plant in Ludhiana, the company has entered into a five-year partnership with Mahindra under which Mahindra will provide its technical expertise in developing Hero’s upcoming electric scooters.

Hero Electric recently completed the production of the first batch of Optima and NYX electric scooters from Mahindra’s plant at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Both the companies will also share their expertise in developing and strengthening the supply chain in the domestic market under this alliance.

Hero Electric’s domestic sales rise

Let us tell you that Hero Electric has sold 6,486 units of electric scooters in the domestic market in June 2022. With this figure, Hero Electric has become the third largest seller of electric scooters after Okinawa and Ampere. The company sold only 2,849 electric scooters in May 2022.

However, after the launch of Ola Electric, there has been a decline in the sales of many big electric two-wheeler companies including Hero. However, in June 2022, Ola Electric has dropped from the first position to the fourth position. Ola Electric sales fell from 9,916 units in May 2022 to 5,689 units in June 2022.
