India’s largest electric two wheeler company Hero Electric Ltd. has partnered with EV charging network Bolt to set up 50,000 EV charging stations in India over the next one year. Under the partnership, Bolt chargers will be installed at over 750 Hero Electric touch points across India, benefiting over 4.5 lakh customers. In addition, around 2,000 Hero Electric riders will be able to avail free Bolt charging units installed at their homes.
The partnership will help both Hero Electric and Bolt achieve their shared goal of providing a robust, affordable and accessible EV charging infrastructure to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. The Bolt charging network will be leveraged by both Hero Electric’s enterprise partners and EV customers, thereby reducing range concerns to a great extent. Additionally, the Bolt will be integrated into the Hero Electric app and website, offering a one-stop solution for locating charging stations, booking slots and making payments.
After installation of BOLT charging stations, individuals can choose between private/public mode of operation for their charging stations and fix the price based on the existing commercial/EV tariff. In addition, subscription-based plans will be announced to ease the use of Hero Electric Rider.
Hero Electric and Bolt are also doing a pilot work for an IoT tracking solution for their vehicles. Pilot will also provide fleet management and charging management solutions to all Hero Electric B2B partners. BOLT will also integrate the BOLT OS enabled smart speedometer solution with Hero Electric Vehicles, enabling a smart, secure and connected ecosystem with the BOLT charging network.
