You must have seen Maruti’s off-road car Gypsy near the Indian Army. Maruti Gypsy is such a reliable vehicle that more than 35 thousand vehicles are used by the Indian Army. Because, this is a vehicle that is known to handle bumpy roads with ease, under any conditions. After the introduction of Maruti Jimny, it is being speculated that Maruti Jimny may replace Gypsy.
Gypsy may become new Jimny
Actually, the same engine that you get in Gypsy, you will also find in Maruti’s new off-road car Jimny. Maruti introduced the off-roader genre in India in 1985 with the Gypsy model. It was sold in Japan as the Jimny SJ30, but was brought to India with a longer wheelbase. Now after the launch of Jimny, it is expected that people are going to see Jimny from the point of view of Gypsy.
After the introduction of Jimny, the question arises whether the Indian Army will be interested in it. If media reports are to be believed, the Indian Army may consider inducting the Jimny in the Indian Army.
Jimny gets more features than Gypsy
Gypsy was launched several decades ago. At that time this car was equipped with modern features. However, according to the current technology, the features provided in Gypsy are negligible. However, its solid build quality is still pretty strong compared to other vehicles out there today. The Jimny gets the latest safety features like airbags, ABS, power steering or manual air conditioning, while the Gypsy misses out on these features.
