A Gurgaon man has allegedly been duped of about Rs 1.5 crore on the pretext of making iPhone, Watch and other products of the American company Apple available at a huge discount. This person was offered the company’s products at a discount of 30 percent. For this, a condition was laid to make full payment in advance.
Police said that this cases A couple has cheated with the victim Sandeep Kumar. Kumar, a resident of Gurugram, was introduced to the couple through a friend two years ago. The fraudster had described himself as a former senior executive of Apple and his wife as the chief executive officer of a private firm. The couple had given Kumar a discount on the iPhone 11. Thereafter, relatives and friends of Kumar bought products worth over Rs 20 lakh from the couple. This made Kumar trust the couple. Kumar had given the couple around Rs 1.5 crore in a year to buy Apple products at a discount. After this, when she asked for her money back, the couple told her that they would sell their flat in Ghaziabad and return the money.
The swindler couple had given checks to the victim which were returned from the bank. Kumar then went to Ghaziabad and learned that the couple had cheated several persons. On Kumar’s complaint, the Gurugram police registered an FIR under sections of criminal conspiracy and cheating. Police said evidence is being collected against the couple. It will also be ascertained whether the main accused was actually a senior executive of Apple or not.
