In view of national security, the Government of India has decided to ban 54 Chinese Apps. All these 54 Chinese applications which can prove to be a big threat to the security of the country, due to which they have been banned in India.
Indian government banned 54 Chinese apps
According to news agency ANI, which quoted sources as saying, the government believes that these 54 Chinese apps pose a threat to the privacy and security of Indians and will be banned.
Sources said the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) will formally issue a notification banning the operation of these apps in India.
The apps that are being banned in India include Sweet Selfie HF, Beauty Camera, Music Player, Music Plus, Volume Booster, Video Player Apps like Media All Format, Viva Video Editor, Nice Video Baidu, AppLock, Dual Space Lite, and AstraCraft Are included.
Most of these apps are from leading Chinese technology firms like Tencent, Alibaba and gaming firm NetEase. All these Chinese technology firms have either “rebranded or rechristened” apps that were banned by the Center in 2020.
Sources said the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeITY), which had earlier banned Chinese apps in 2020, has directed the Google Play Store to block these applications.
He said that MeitY has taken necessary steps in this regard through the powers vested by Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Earlier, the Indian government had also banned 59 big apps from China, including popular applications like Tiktok, Shareit, WeChat, Helo, Like, UC News, Bigo Live, UC Browser, ES File Explorer. And now 54 other apps have also been ordered to be banned in India citing national security.
