The government may take action not only on Hero Electric and Okinawa, but also at least 14 others, including Benling, Okaya, Greaves Electric Mobility, Jitendra New EV, Kinetic Green Energy, Revolt Intellicorp, Lohia Auto, Avon Cycles and Thukral Electric & Victory Electric. The misuse of subsidy by electric vehicle companies is under investigation.
Some sources related to this matter say that while the investigation against Hero Electric and Okinawa has been completed, the investigation against 12 other companies is still going on. According to information received from media reports, it is being said that Okinawa and Hero Electric have claimed a subsidy of Rs 250 crore for allegedly imported components but have declared the consignment indigenous.
Government testing agency ARAI i.e. Automotive Research Association of India and ICAT i.e. International Center for Automotive Technology had started investigation after whistleblower complaints against EV companies.
Investigation is also going on in Electric Scooters subsidy case
For the information of the people, let us tell you that a separate investigation is going on against Ather, Hero MotoCorp, Ola and TVS for claiming subsidy on scooters above the fame price cap of Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand.
A source associated with the matter has informed that TVS, Hero MotoCorp, Ather and Ola have answered the questions of the government but additional clarification has been sought from the companies.
