Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In), an agency operating under the Government of India, issued a warning regarding a threat. The agency stated that a vulnerability has been identified in Apple’s iTunes and Google Chrome desktop applications, which cybercriminals can exploit to defraud innocent individuals.
CERT-In disclosed that it detected a vulnerability in Apple iTunes for Windows, stemming from improper checks by CoreMedia. This flaw allows hackers to target Apple iTunes users remotely. The vulnerability specifically affects Apple iTunes version 12.13.2 on Windows.
How to Protect Apple iTunes Users
CERT-In advises Apple iTunes users to update to the latest version available. Users can check for updates within the iTunes application on Windows. This guidance is provided on the CERT-In website (cert-in.org.in).
Additionally, CERT-In identified vulnerabilities in Google Chrome, where hackers can exploit flaws in the Visuals and ANGle components.
How to Secure Google Chrome Users
Google Chrome users on Windows, Mac, and Linux should update to the latest version. They can do so by navigating to the Help option and selecting About Google Chrome, which will automatically search for updates. Keeping devices up to date with the latest software versions is crucial to prevent hackers from gaining remote access and stealing sensitive information.
