Google Photos AI editing tool will be free for everyone, will be able to make photos better

Google Photos Gets a Major AI-Powered Editing Boost

Google Photos is receiving a significant upgrade, bringing powerful AI-based editing tools to a wider audience. Previously exclusive to Pixel phones and Google One subscribers, these features will be entirely free for all users starting May 15th.

Free AI Editing Unleashed

A fan favorite, Magic Eraser, is now free for everyone. This tool leverages machine learning to remove unwanted objects from photos, be it a photobombing stranger, distracting power lines, or anything else hindering a perfect shot. Additionally, Photo Unblur, which utilizes machine learning to sharpen blurry photos, becomes free for all users.

Google is further enhancing the editing experience with a suite of free tools:

  • HDR Effect: Enhance the dynamic range of both photos and videos for a more visually impactful experience.
  • Portrait Light: Adjust lighting in portrait photos to achieve the desired effect.
  • Color Pop: Make a specific color pop and stand out from the background.

Introducing Magic Editor: Unleash Your Creativity

The game-changer comes with Magic Editor, a powerful AI tool that was previously limited to Pixel 8 phones. Now available on all Pixel devices, Magic Editor empowers users to perform complex edits with ease. Reposition the subject of your photo, modify the sky, creatively fill in gaps, and more – the possibilities are vast. Google offers 10 free Magic Editor edits per month for everyone. For unlimited edits, consider a Google One Premium plan with at least 2TB of storage.

Broad Availability and a Bright Future

These exciting new features will be available on a wide range of devices, including Android phones running Android 8.0 or later, iPhones running iOS 15 or later, and even Pixel tablets. The rollout begins on May 15th, so mark your calendars! Google’s commitment to making these powerful AI tools free underscores the growing popularity of photo editing. This move positions Google Photos as an even more compelling option for users seeking to enhance their photos without the need for complex software.
