Recently, Google CEO Sundar Pichai discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the company’s products at the inaugural ceremony of the 2024 Business, Government, and Society Forum. During this event, he also addressed criticisms regarding the responses of the company’s chatbot J Mini. Pichai mentioned that the high standards set by people for Google motivate the company to enhance its products. He emphasized Google’s goal of providing users with answers that reflect diverse viewpoints from around the world.

Pichai further stated, “We have always adhered to high standards, and we welcome these standards because they drive us to improve our products. However, in the case of AI, there are various tools. We need to consider how to involve as many users as possible in creating these models. It’s crucial that these models comprehend multiple perspectives and, when responding, present not just one correct answer, but acknowledge both. Keep both sides facing forward.”

Credit for success given to people:

Pichai credited people for Google’s success and expressed the company’s commitment to maintaining user trust. He further stated, “Providing accurate answers is crucial for us because our success depends on this user trust. Therefore, I believe we are moving in the right direction, and we will continue to do so.”

After criticism regarding J Mini’s responses, Google stated its efforts to improve its models. Pichai remarked, “I believe this case differs from a chatbot, where sometimes its own opinion may surface. This is an area where research is ongoing. We need to learn how to provide accurate answers at the right times, while also ensuring that these answers reflect the diverse perspectives of people around the world.”

Pichai also mentioned that problems exist not only in Google but also in the LLM models of many companies. He said, “The problems related to AI models are not limited to Google alone. They also exist in the models of other companies. These models are continually evolving, and I believe we will succeed in this endeavor. However, our goal will always be to do the right things for our users.”
