Google App for iOS May Soon Introduce Gemini artificial intelligence AI-Powered Search Feature

Google is reportedly testing a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) feature for its iOS app that could redefine the search experience. Dubbed the Gemini AI-powered search suggestions, this feature is designed to enhance search queries by providing additional context and filters for more precise results. While the feature is not yet available in the global or beta versions of the app, reports suggest it is currently under development.

Google’s Gemini AI Feature: What to Expect

According to a report by Android Authority, Google has started testing AI-driven suggestions in its iOS app. A teardown of the app revealed a new pencil icon added near the camera and microphone icons in the text field. This icon reportedly activates an AI-powered suggestions interface for users.

When users tap on the pencil icon, the interface expands into a full-screen text box. As users begin typing, the Gemini AI icon appears alongside the message “Generate AI suggestions.” Once the AI detects enough context from the input, it provides related words or phrases categorized into three rows, allowing users to refine their search results further.

How Gemini AI Suggestions Work

For example, typing “buying a birthday gift” may trigger suggestions in three distinct rows:

  • Row 1: Words related to budget, like “under ₹5,000.”
  • Row 2: Words linked to the occasion, such as “anniversary.”
  • Row 3: Words describing the relationship, like “wife.”

By selecting options from these rows, users can narrow down search results to match their specific needs, delivering highly targeted and relevant information.

Current Development Status

The feature is reportedly still in its testing phase, and its server-side functionality is not yet active. As a result, it is unavailable for public use or even in the app’s beta version. There is no official confirmation regarding the release timeline for iOS or whether a similar feature is in development for Android devices.
