How reports “Kommersant”, the Geneva Motor Show (Geneva International Motor Show, GIMS), planned for 2023, has been cancelled. The decision was made due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other reasons.
“Due to uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as the risks associated with the development of the pandemic, the organizers have decided to focus on planning the event in Doha in 2023,” said Maurice Turettini, president of the GIMS organizing foundation.
It was planned that the auto show will be held in two stages: from 14 to 19 February – in Geneva, and in November – in Doha. However, according to the organizers, “in these difficult times, many brands are not able to take part in the winter exhibition in Europe.”
The Geneva Motor Show has been held since 1905. In 2020, it was canceled for the first time in its history, causing the organizers to suffer a loss of 11 million Swiss francs. The next two years, the auto show was also not held.
