‘Gandhi ji never wore a cap, but…’, PM Modi mentioned Mahatma Gandhi in his first podcast – pm modi discuss about mahatma gandhi in podcast interview with nikhil kamath ntc

Taking inspiration from the example of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his podcast debut with Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath highlighted the importance of mission-driven leadership in politics. PM Modi said that despite not being a great orator, Gandhi had the ability to connect deeply with people and unite the country through his personality and actions.

Emphasizing the role of authenticity and connections in effective political leadership, PM Modi said, “Gandhi himself never wore a cap, but the world remembers the ‘Gandhi cap’. This is the power of true communication and leadership.”

Responding to Kamath’s question about the talents required to enter politics, PM Modi said, “Entering politics is easy, but achieving success is a completely different challenge.” Success in politics requires immense dedication, constant interaction with people in their good and bad times and the ability to work as a team player. If someone believes that everyone will listen to them or follow their way of working, then they are wrong. “Though he may win some elections, there is no guarantee that he will emerge as a successful leader.”

He then drew a comparison between the challenges during India’s independence struggle and the political landscape of post-independence India. He said, “During India’s freedom struggle, people from different backgrounds participated and contributed in different ways. Some educated the masses, others engaged in making khadi and many worked on tribal upliftment, among other roles. Worked. Yet, they were all united by a common feeling of patriotism.”

“After independence, some of these individuals entered politics, bringing with them unmatched maturity, dedication and a deep sense of purpose,” he said.

The Prime Minister stressed that “it is important for good people to join politics not for personal ambitions, but with a mission”.

When asked about youth involvement in politics, he said, “India needs one lakh dedicated young politicians, driven by a selfless desire to serve the nation. Politics should not be about taking, getting and making. “Such an approach will not last long.”

When asked to compare entrepreneurship and politics, PM Modi explained that entrepreneurs work for the growth and success of their company, while politics is basically about putting the nation first.
