GNCAP (Global New Car Assessment Program) is an organization that crash-tests new cars from several markets including India. It assigns a 1 to 5 star rating using the star rating of the cars. It also gives separate ratings for adult safety and child safety.
Today we are telling you about the safest cars under Rs 10 lakh in India according to GNCAP rating.
1. Tata Punch
Tata Punch has received a 5-Star rating in the adult protection category, scoring 16.45 points out of a maximum of 17 points. At the same time, for the safety of children, it has got a 4-star rating with 40.89 points out of 49 points. Safety features on the Tata Punch include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, brake sway control, low-traction mode, seatbelt reminder, high-speed alert, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Tata Punch prices start at Rs.6 Lakh and go up to Rs.9.54 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
2. Mahindra XUV 300
The Mahindra XUV300 is the first sub-four-metre SUV from Mahindra to receive a 5-star rating from GNCAP. The SUV scored 16.42/17 in Adult Occupancy. Received four stars for child occupant protection (scoring (37.44/49). In terms of safety, the XUV 300 gets six airbags, four disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability program (ESP), with cornering function There is ABS and EBD, front and rear fog lamps, ISOFIX anchorages, tire pressure monitoring system.
XUV 300 prices start at Rs 8.41 Lakh and go up to Rs 14.07 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
3. Tata Altroz
Tata Altroz is the only Made-in-India premium hatchback with a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. Tata Altroz has scored a 5-star rating in the adult protection category, scoring 16.13 points out of a maximum of 17 points.
The Altroz also didn’t score on child occupant protection, scoring three stars (29/49). Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear camera, seat-belt reminder for the front seats and ISOFIX child-seat mounts.
Prices for the Altroz start at Rs 6.34 lakh and go up to Rs 10.25 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
4. Tata Nexon
Tata Nexon is also the first made-in-India car from Tata to receive a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Tata Nexon scored five stars in adult safety (16.06/17). Like the Altroz, the Nexon didn’t score well on child occupant protection, securing only three stars (25/49).
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear camera, traction control, hill-hold assist, brake disc wiping and Isofix child-seat mounts. Its prices start at Rs 7.70 lakh and go up to Rs 14.18 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
