Roskosmos announced the successful testing of a new RD-0124MS engine designed for the promising Soyuz-5 rocket. For the first time in testing, the engine was equipped with full-size nozzles. As noted, the start and stop were normal, the engine worked at nominal mode for the required time.
RD-0124MS with a thrust in the void of 60 tons is designed to operate on liquid oxygen and naphthyl. Next year, engine tests will continue – as part of the stage and under the flight design test program. According to the plan, the first Soyuz-5 flight rocket will be assembled in 2023.
