Following Instagram, TikTok began testing paid subscriptions

The popular social network TikTok began testing a paid subscription system. This was originally reported by The Information.

Interestingly, the other day a similar step was taken in Instagram. TikTok is exploring the possibility of allowing celebrity creators to set fees for access to their content they post on TikTok. So far, the paid subscriptions feature is being tested in a very limited way.

A TikTok representative told Engadget reporters:

We are always thinking of new ways to benefit our community and enrich the TikTok experience.”

While the subscriptions feature is not available to everyone, fans can still support their favorite creators with money using the Tips feature, as well as buy and send virtual gifts to them.
