While Samsung expects that in a couple of years its foldable smartphones will overtake Galaxy Note devices in popularity (in their historical sales), in South Korea, the latest Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4 have already surpassed the current flagships of the Galaxy S22 line on pre-orders.
In Samsung’s home market, new items were ordered on average 138,000 times a day in the first eight days. For comparison, last year’s Galaxy Z line showed a result of 131,000 orders per day, while the Galaxy S line had 127,000 orders per day. Actually, it turns out that even the folding smartphones of the previous generation were more in demand than the flagship Galaxy S22.
A total of 970,000 new-generation Samsung foldable smartphones were pre-ordered in South Korea between August 16 and 22. It is also worth noting that this year the demand for the older model is higher. Fold4 accounted for about 35% of orders, while Fold3 accounted for about 30% last year.
