Counterpoint Research experts have published a rating of mobile brands revenues for the past year. Despite the pandemic and the shortage of components, all major manufacturers were able to increase their revenue from gadget sales. At the same time, the vendor that took first place managed to earn more than the four main competitors combined.
Apple has become the leader among smartphone brands following the results of the past year. Revenue of 196 billion dollars (44% of all market revenues) brought her first place in the ranking. Experts note that 2021 was successful for the company largely due to the high demand for the iPhone 13 and the continued popularity of the previous series devices. At the same time, the average selling price of new products (ASP) amounted to about $821, which became a historical maximum.
In second place is Samsung with $72 billion in revenue, up 11% from 2020. The average retail price of smartphones from the South Korean brand was $263, and the most popular series were the flagship Galaxy S, as well as the more affordable Galaxy A and Galaxy M. The company also managed to triple the shipments of foldable devices compared to the previous year.
Xiaomi ranked third with $37 billion, up 49% year-over-year. India became the key region for the brand – branded devices occupied 14% of the mobile market there. OPPO’s revenue, which is in fourth place, was $36 billion, and vivo closes the top 5 with a figure of $34 billion.
