Company DR becomes a major player in the market in Europe, surpassing the sales of MG, Alfa Romeo, Mini, Cupra, Tesla and Volvo in Italy last year.
DR entered the twenty best brands of Italy in 2023, selling 32 650 new cars with a market share of 2,1%, which corresponds to an increase of 34% in annual calculations. A year ago the company grew by 193%.
Company DR was founded in the region of Molise in 2006 by former Fiat dealer Massimo Di Risio. Initially the company produced clones of Chery for the local market, and then also started producing copies of JAC and BAIC. The company later launched three brands: Evo, Sportequipe and Ickx.
Currently, 17 models are presented among the four brands: from small hatchbacks to crossovers, off-roaders and pickups, offering various gasoline, dual-fuel, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric power units.
Over the past year, the company expanded its production capacity, including four assembly lines with an annual output of more than 50 000 cars, added the ability to produce electric vehicles, modernized its research and design centers and built a new warehouse of spare parts.
DR also owns the rights to Osca, a brand of sports cars created by the Maserati brothers in 1947 for autosport, and works on the restart program.
