Hynix has unveiled the Hi-A811, its first 108MP image sensor for smartphones, at SEDEX 2022 in Seoul.
This is Hynix’s first image sensor with a resolution of over 100 megapixels. Before that, last year, the company released a 50-megapixel image sensor.
Hynix ranks seventh in the global image sensor market with a market share of just 2%. Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A23 5G used a 50-megapixel image sensor from SK Hynix.
Currently, the image sensor market is rapidly expanding as cameras are embedded in mobile devices and various home appliances in addition to smartphones.
Recall that this year Samsung Electronics released the world’s first 200-megapixel image sensor.
