Ferrari Unveils Futuristic Racing Yacht “Hypersail” with Groundbreaking Design
The yacht is set to launch in 2026.
Italian automotive giant Ferrari has introduced Hypersail, a 30-metre racing yacht that is set to redefine the sport of sailing. While unusual for a supercar manufacturer, this project brought together Ferrari’s top engineers from Maranello with leading experts in ocean racing.
The project is led by renowned French designer Guillaume Verdier and introduces a radical new approach to yacht design. The standout feature is a unique three-point stabilization system, which includes a canted keel-wing, an aerodynamic rudder, and alternating side stabilizers. This cutting-edge setup allows the vessel to glide above the water surface, delivering unprecedented speeds.
Ferrari has incorporated its signature motorsport engineering into the yacht, including an advanced adaptive motion control system, while entirely eliminating traditional engines.
“Hypersail is a natural extension of our philosophy, where high technology meets uncompromising performance,” said Ferrari CEO John Elkann.
To power the vessel, Ferrari’s engineers completely reimagined energy systems. The yacht will be self-sustaining, equipped with solar panels, regenerative energy units, and next-generation wind turbines.
Scaled-down prototypes will be tested in the Atlantic Ocean this autumn. The project is led by legendary yachtsman Giovanni Soldini.
“We purposely selected the most challenging conditions to validate our innovations. If the yacht can handle the storms off Newfoundland, it can handle any race,” said the project’s technical director Marco Ricci.
Construction of a full-size prototype is already underway at the Livorno shipyard, with the official launch expected in spring 2026. According to the team, several of the yacht’s new technologies could eventually be integrated into future Ferrari road models.
